1.Learning English through debating
Your school is organising a debate around the motion: 'YouTube harms young people's education'. Your teacher has asked you to participate in the debate. In order to prepare for it, write an essay in which you EITHER strongly agree with the statement OR strongly disagree with it.
2. Learning English through technology
Recently, you read an article in a technology magazine which said that e-readers will eventually replace books completely. The article argued that this was good for environmental reasons. Write a letter to the editor of the magazine arguing why this would be a bad thing.
3. Learning English through short stories
Your local library is running a short story competition on the topic of 'My scariest day'. Write an entry for the competition based on a scary day you've experienced or one from your imagination.
4.Learning English through popular culture
A recent film told the story of a man who lost his connection with reality because of his constant use of social media. Write a review of the film, discussing why the film was relevant to Hong Kong teenagers today. Make sure you include a plot summary and information about the characters.
